New Gramma's Potato Salad® designs for Country Maid, Inc. by Chris Chase
This is the design that was finally settled on. The blue in the title brings out the blue in the Hellmann's jar in the corner of the border. The idea behind the Hellmann's jar is that we are proud that we use Hellmann's Mayonnaise in our salads, and want to alert the public that we use such quality products. Hellmann's, on the other hand, doesn't want us to brand our product with their name. Hence, I used a recognizable portion of the jar, but without the full name or logo. Just a way to get around branding or directly using their name. More of a subliminal advert.
These four designs were the ones that I was hoping they would choose. I put extra time into making the border, using a doily, gingham cloth, potatoes, onions, a figure knitting, a kitchen sink and stove, and the Hellmann's jar. For once, the one they chose was also my favorite, although I was very fond of all of them.
These four labels were variations on designs that I had made up years ago and were generally only used to contrast the other labels, to have something to compare them to. Some of the colors are garish, but I was told to try and incorporate more color into the labeling. I tried to be as varied as possible. You never know what someone is going to like.
These last four are completely Jim's designs and I only include them because they were part of the group of designs that we presented to the company.
